Position Overview
Oberhausen Marketing & Public Relations (OBR), a full-service boutique agency located on Lincoln Road in the center of South Beach, is seeking a high-performing, public relations professional for its Account Executive position to play a critical role in the design and implementation of our clients’ communications strategies and the development and maintenance of strong media relationships. S/he will participate in business and consumer public relations strategy and planning, assist in all earned media including, but not limited to broadcast, print and online. S/he will also help manage daily client interaction and oversee the development and fostering of media relations at the local and national level. In addition, s/he will be asked to study our clients’ categories and learn/leverage related industry events and Miami’s social events as a way of identifying opportunities to further their positive exposure. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the fast-paced media world and also must be professional, enthusiastic, a solid team player with a drive for results. S/He should have outgoing entrepreneurial energy, good decision making and analytical skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, the ability to think strategically and creatively, the ability to multi-task, a willingness to roll up his/her sleeves, self-motivated with a passion for communications and marketing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or Communications
- 3+ years of relevant experience in communications and/or public relations
- A strong list of media contacts (local, national & regional print, broadcast and online journalists and bloggers)
- Exceptional written communications skills, with the ability to adapt style to suit different communications media and audiences
- Enthusiasm for new opportunities presented by traditional media relations, bloggers and social media
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Creative and innovative approach to communications and branding
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, outside normal office hours and to be on call as required during early mornings, evenings and weekends to handle media inquiries
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, and willingness to ‘pitch in’ as required
- Ability to prioritize and assist multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline oriented environment while paying attention to detail
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong understanding of public relations reporting analytics

The primary responsibilities for Public Relations Account Executive include:
- Client Strategy
- Assist in the development and implementation of brand communications strategies
- Undertake the necessary monitoring and evaluation activities in order to determine the success of communications strategies
- Contribute expertise in the areas of media and online engagement and public relations outreach to client’s overall strategic planning
- Stay up-to-date on relevant news and current trends in media
- Media Relations
- Build, engage and strengthen media relationships with contacts at relevant regional & national print, broadcast and online journalists and bloggers (business, consumer and lifestyle)
- Evaluate client’s asset base regularly in order to identify possible stories, and then undertake development of creative pitch angles to proactively engage media, including writing press releases and pitching feature articles
- Develop and write media pitches and press releases for multiple clients
- Act as primary liaison and respond to all media inquiries in a timely and accurate fashion
- Organize media events as required
- Arrange media interviews for clients and draft briefings for them when appropriate
- Ensure that all client media coverage is recorded for dissemination to key stakeholders
- Client Management
- Act as day-to-day client contact on behalf of OBR when needed
- Lead status calls with client and extended communications team
- Oversee reporting as needed
- Internal Management
- Responsible for ongoing internal status updates and weekly/monthly reports with detailed project updates, results and significant developments
- Work with and manage company software and tools
- Assist with managing junior executive activities
